Hello! I just got my first orchid. :)
Good on you!
How to start a new orchid off another orchid?

Phals are known as the moth orchid.
I have several orchids in my house. They seem to be doing ok. Is that alright or should I take them outside? I live in Palm Beach County.
That is fine. I bring mine in when they are blooming.
When they are not blooming, I bring them outside.
watch for ants if you bring inside
I see some in my neighborhood where folks are growing them in the live oaks. What type are they likely growing?
From Me to Marilynn Powell: (Privately) 11:15 AMRegarding Ants. I thoroughly water outside first to see if they have ants.
Could be any type growing in trees.
Is there anyway you can send us the powerpoint
I have some info on Epidendrums when it's time.
how do you know if your orchid is dead?
I put my what looks like dead orchids in a "nursery area" which is very shades. You will be surprised what makes a comeback. When roots have no green & all brown and greay - or no green leaves - it's dead.
is there an organic solution for fertilizer?
What is your thoughts on Coconut husk liners for repotting?
I'll tell you what I use husk liners for later.
i need to move an orchid wired to a tree because too much sun. the roots are glommed to trunk and about 2-3ft long. do I just tear them off? or cut the root close to plant?
Don't cut roots close to plant!
Phalaenopsis: how long should the roots hang down and how much should be trimmed off if any?
Wet down first and peel off tree.
Cut off roots when dead.
My orchids hate it inside, I can never keep them alive if they are inside. May be the AC
can you cut the dead or too damp part of the root to help the orchid grow better?
I'm sorry I meant the hanging Vanda roots.
U.F orchid restoration program. Dr. Kane..... Ghost orchids
I’ve heard of using a seaweed fertilizer?
Yes, cut off dead roots. And on all orchids as well as vandas
what about the 'pups' like on Vandas...can they be separated and then grown on their own?
Yes the pups can be separated and will grow on their own.
it is easier to remove the roots from a tree or pot if they are soaking wet. run a hose on it for a while. or put the pot in a bucket of water
Is it necessary to pot in the specific potting mix for particular plant?
I make my own mediums and make 2 different types.
Which do you use?
One for Phals and one for the others.
where can we see the recorded session?
