Please post your questions here, thanks
Abdullahi Abdullahi Faggo

I have seen the profile of your members in environmental microbiology section, but I have not seen anyone who works on bioremediation. The area I wish to work is bioremidiation of polar PAHs in contaminated soil. Can I have a potential supervisor among the team?
Uli Stingl
51:01
Anyone interested in the labs in Ft Lauderdale can contact me anytime at ustingl@ufl.edu
Karol Sanchez
51:56
Hello, thank you very much for this session. I would like to know something related to the personas statement, do you prefer that we indicate the area of research interest, or the specific professors we are interested in?Thanks!
Uli Stingl
53:09
To Abdullahi: best is to contact the respective faculty directly. Although there is no one working on bioremediation right now, it's always an option to start new projects
Max Glanz

What are the UF graduate fellowship awards? If one were to apply for multiple grad fellowships (i.e. NIH, NSF), is there a limit on how many fellowships or grants one can accept to support research in the microcell PhD program?
Keith Taylor
53:49
Hello, do any of the labs have a flow cytometer? and does it have cell sorting capabilities?
Kalie Januszkiewicz
54:20
Is the GRE only not required for this application rotation, or is that also the case for future years?
Lauren Lawson
54:39
What if you are coming from a seperate Masters program? Will any of those credits transfer?
David Garcia Gali
55:15
Is there a list of the labs located in Lake Alfred?
Nian Wang
56:09
Yes, my lab is at Lake Alfred
Allison Rolston PA-C
56:42
What an amazing program and staff! Since this is not an online program, I would not be able to consider it as an option. Thank you for holding this informational seminar.
Abdullahi Abdullahi Faggo
58:26
Thank you very much. As with respect to the TOEFL, can someone apply for the PhD program before the TOEFL test score is ready?
Lisa Emerson
58:42
Thanks for coming Allison! We do have an online masters program if you’re interested: https://microbiologyonline.ifas.ufl.edu/
Keith Taylor
01:01:16
I would like to either study the non-responsiveness to therapeutics in the elderly population who have taken influenza vaccines. Or I would like to study specific quorum sensing molecules related to enteric pathogens. Is there faculty that can help/guide me in my research or will I have to determine my research topic based off what they are researching/their experience?
Lauren Lawson
01:02:42
Do grraduate students have offices or offices within the labs? If not, where do graduate students work/write?
Kelly Rice
01:05:42
Well said Meghan!!
Meghan Berryman
01:05:57
Thank you, Dr. Rice
Karin Shapiro
01:07:57
To clarify, the GRE is not required for either the MS or the PhD program. Is that correct?
Kelly Rice
01:08:47
Hi Karin, that is correct. GRE will not be required for our online MS or PhD program applications
Mina Tajmirriahi
01:09:20
Thank you for the session, GRE is not required, but if we upload it, it will not be considered?
Sharon Johnson
01:09:27
sorry do you have any statistics?
Meghan Berryman
01:09:42
Yes, Mina. If you would like your GRE to be considered, please submit it
Craig Meredith
01:09:47
Thank you everybody
Sharon Johnson

Sharon Johnson
01:11:46
thank you!
Ahad KeshavarzFahliyani
01:13:06
thanks for great presentations, you mentioned that there is a minimum requirement for speaking section in TOEFL (23), my question is that if we are below this minimum, is it possible to receive a conditional admission?or we have to retake the exam?
Uli Stingl
01:13:23
Sharon, while there is no faculty focussing in biostats, statistics is part of nearly every research project. Best to ask the faculty directly with your ideas.

01:13:36
Thank you for hosting this information session. If you were to do a summer rotation with one of the labs not at the Gainesville campus, would you still take three rotations during the fall semester or would you only do two additional rotations?
Kelly Rice
01:14:23
if you complete a rotation over the summer, I believe that counts towards the 3. In other words 1 summer rotation + 2 fall rotations
Uli Stingl
01:14:53
Normally two, but every case might be different, Connor. If there
Uli Stingl
01:15:15
is reason for 3, you might be able to do 3
connormeenan
01:17:26
Okay, thank you both for answering

Keith Taylor

I actually was inspired about quorum sensing from Dr. Kelly's lecture. Thank you for answering my questions!
Abdullahi Abdullahi Faggo
01:32:22
As with respect to the TOEFL, can someone apply for the PhD program before the TOEFL test score is ready?
Uli Stingl
01:32:56

Karin Shapiro
01:37:08
