Google scholar is a great way to find those grey studies, but is does use algorithms and can sort of box you in to what google has profiled for you - just something to remember. :)

Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:08:55
Hi Susana! I have your question!
Xinsong Du
01:09:10
What would be the working ethic when working with a librarian? Do we need to add the librarian to author list or acknowledgement? Thanks!
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:09:21
Hi Xinsong! I have your question

While synthesizing results and adding analysis to the review, is it acceptable to add tables or figures with proper citation?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:13:23
Hi Sahjib! I've got your question
Mandy Baily
01:13:40
I would also like the link re: working ethics - great question that I hadn't even considered. Thank you, Xinsong.

I noticed a step in the lit review step that had to do with "finding a right database". I joined late, so I apologize if this has already been covered, but I wanted to know if Google Scholar can act as a single place to search across databases? Or is there some value in going to individual databases and searching for things?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:15:24
Hi Amogh! No problem. Suzanne suggested we use multiple databases to be sure we access all of the relevant research
Amogh Mannekote
01:15:31
Thanks
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:15:38
No problem Amogh! :)

Is there a specific type of review that works best for a STEM dissertation in which the lit review is not a major component/chapter?
Widyastri Rahmy
01:20:47
Does narrative literature review still considered acceptable for dissertation/thesis?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:21:14
Hi Joe and Widyastri! I have your questions. :)
Lacey Harris-Coble
01:21:44
What is timeframe for a rapid review versus the systematic review (which may indicate a timeframe for the search, say after 2000)? Is a rapid review only for a few years of literature?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:21:54
Hi Lacey! I've got your question
Mandy Baily
01:21:56
Is rapid review limited to a specific timeframe or limited by time available to do the review?
Amogh Mannekote
01:22:08
How do you define "credible"? As a novice to a field, isn't it hard to judge whether a source is credible or not?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:22:21
I have the above questions!
Kasey Marsh
01:23:46
When you are writing on a subject that has not been widely researched (or perhaps not researched at all) in a newer field, what type of lit review is that? Narrative?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:24:08
Hi Kasey! I've got your question!

If you are conducting a systematic review about a broad topic, can you establish your inclusion/exclusion criteria after skimming a sample of the literature (i.e., if you are not sure about inclusion/exclusion beforehand, can you develop these criteria later in the process)?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:26:22
Hi Max! I have your question!

01:27:37
What is mini review (in biomedical sciences) and how it is different from other reviews?
Amanda Catron (she/her)
01:28:10
Hi Hamzah! I've got you question.
Xinsong Du
01:28:19
Is literature review appropriate for conference abstract submission (i.e., in the situation that the literature review is on-going and not enough to be submitted to a journal)?
