I have a problem with the current usage of plastic mesh bags to create oyster reefs. The plastic degrades and creates plastic/microplastic pollution which is a serious problem in our oceans for fish, turtles, and birds. When will the oyster baggers convert to non-plastic bagging, knowing the alternatives cost more?
What are the concerns over mangroves?
@Karri that they will block water views
Do you know what they are planning on doing at the Jensen Beach causeway near the playground? The wall is entirely eroded
Thank you Valentina.
Can you discuss the erosion caused by piers like at the Jupiter Inlet. They are always pumping sand onto the beach and it keeps washing away.
sorry all- i forgot to update the topic in the poll! Sorry for any confusion
If a homeowner wanted to add Spartina to their shoreline, would they need a permit?
what about the type of pier at Juno Beach. It is on posts and does not cause the same problems.
Can you talk a little bit about what kind of monitoring is done after a living shoreline is installed? What are you looking for and how do you tell if a shoreline is doing well.
Will you please send us the list of resources Vincent posted?
