- Shared screen with speaker view

07:14
Todd, can you set Closed caption?

07:51
Pam, it's enabled, Thank you!

08:38
thanks

10:23
Super excited for the new platform!

12:30
YAY!!

12:45
Does this mean that non-UF patrons will no longer be able to access UFDC materials?

12:57
No! Everyone will be able to access UFDC

13:00
Nice!!!!

13:23
Right now, the staging site is only accessible within UF while development is ongoing. Once it's live, it's live for everyone!

13:46
Thx, Laurie

14:19
Is the newspaper only site currently live or will it be in going in November? I think new college students may be interested as well.

14:30
All of these are coming in November.

14:57
The newspaper site is brand new! It's the first time the Florida Newspapers will have their own portal.

15:22
It looks so clean and neat.

15:29
Wow, it looks really nice!

15:35
We have been really emphasizing primary sources in our information literacy program so I think it may get use from our profs and students here. :)

15:41
It looks very nice. :)

16:15
I love the colors and the way the items are displayed.

17:18
LOVE how the metadata displays!!

17:26
More user friendly and a lot cleaner interface.

17:36
Will the new system support Data/data collections?

18:07
Way to go Dustin!

18:12
It will, with the data as downloads. In general, for data, we often recommend Zenodo or GitHub, or other specialized tools, depending on data needs.

18:17
That is cool!

19:06
Will it support other types of files (e.g. 3D models)?

19:23
3d files will be supported as per usual as downloads.

21:21
Cool!

22:12
Will the statistics on items/ collections from current version of UFDC display in this new version?

22:37
Like the mouseover on the results page

23:16
On prior statistics, unclear. With this new system up, the old system will be up in parallel (if it stays up) for 6 months. We will have that time to see about best options. This is one of many things for ongoing work and review next year.

24:31
I haven't seen a search filter pane yet, will that feature still be included? In current UFDC it always showed up in the left

24:58
There are filters on the left for search results. Advanced search is coming up, and includes date searching--new and super cool!

25:21
I'm already blown away. So exciting!!

25:55
There they are!

27:23

Florida Digital Newspaper Library: https://fdnl.patron-stage.uflib.ufl.edu/

27:58
Sooo GOOD!

27:59
Awesome!

28:04
Love it!

28:24
Great job, everyone!

28:27
Wow, job well done!!!

28:29
Thank you all for your hard work!!

28:53
The team has done such a great job! So excited for rhis

29:08
Todd, Cliff, Julio, Doug & Dustin β WAY TO GO! Amazing work! ππΌππΌππΌππΌ

30:12
Can you explain or define "genres" and "title sets" on the top page - those terms are kind of jargony...

30:58
Genres are library-genres, and was added upon request from stakeholders. This will be cleaned up to a list of ~13 general format terms (and then the term might be updated). We are looking for suggestions!

32:05
Title sets are any titles with multiple volumes, so newspapers and serials, and journals. Title sets is the best thing we've come up with for a term. This has been much discussed. We are actively looking for a better term. The page for it does explain the meaning, but we want better ideas!

32:31
I know what these terms mean, but the general public may not

32:45
Is the institutional repository still a collection within UFDC and does it support log in by the creator / self-submission?

33:41
Yes, the IR is still a collection. The work this year is all on the patron interface. IR submissions are production, so will be reviewed in a future phase. The current UFDC will still be up, and will be used for that for the time being.

34:03
@Laurie - thanks :-)

34:28
For the "Map Search", how do you scroll the map so that you can search for areas other than the southeast us?

34:42
Like Africa?

34:48
Really basic question, but will the home address remain ufdc.ufl.edu

34:55
Can we please see Hebrew text?

35:12
Will this also have the ability to make a "submitter" user?

35:13
Yes, this will be what comes up for ufdc.ufl.edu. The current ufdc site will become original.uflib.ufl.edu

35:27
Great, thank you.

35:47
@Jennifer, if you go to the map, there are map controls, and you can use the hand and zooming, to move the map to other places,

37:11
@Lena, no, this is the patron system and so is de-coupled from the submission and production side.

37:11
Thank you!

37:45
Awesome!!!

37:51
Wow!

38:25
I'm trying to open the new UFDC home page right now, and it isn't opening for me

38:37
I couldn't open the links. I'm on campus.

38:45
Weird, it's working for me?

39:05
(I'm on campus too) https://patron-stage.uflib.ufl.edu/ is what I used

39:09
YAAY!

39:12
Nice!

39:16
Danielle, are you not on UF internet? It should work on any UF connection, or when on VPN

39:30
Who would I coordinate with regarding adding coordinates to an item in UFDC so that it shows up in the map search?

39:34
I am, in my office. fdnl.patron-stage.uflib.ufl.edu took too long to respond.

39:43
Links don't work for me either (on campus)

39:56
yea I'm on campus too, and I get a site can't be reached - took too long to respond page

40:09
@Jennifer adding metadata goes through DSS the same way, and that data feeds into the main site.

40:30
Does the full link with HTTPS work: https://fdnl.patron-stage.uflib.ufl.edu/

40:59
That doesn't work for me

41:03
Nope, same error message. Too long to respond.

41:16
And, thanks for testing! Since this isn't working for everyone on campus, that is great to know.

41:30
For folks who can't access, what buildings are you in?

41:36
Marston

41:39
Lib West

41:43
Smathers

41:44
HSCL

41:48
It works for me and I am in the same building/floor as Meredith

41:57
(Smathers 1st floor)

42:04
It works for me and I'm at HSCL, but on a different floor than Larisa.

42:23
This is super strange, and great data for us to figure out, to be sure folks can test! Thank you!

42:27
YES! That's how social media exploded...when it started mobile accessibility. I hope UFDC traffic will explode too!

43:25
Who do we email with feedback as we explore?

44:03
Please email Todd and me with all feedback. We'll follow-up as needed, and we support fuller scoping to get things into the dev queue as appropriate/priority:)

44:44
thanks!

45:17
I'm done...someone pinch me!

45:17
Do the link previews on social have images associated with them?

45:46
I don't think so, but this is on the queue for new work. Moxy is on the stakeholder team, so we have planned time for social work:)

46:36
#Shallow

46:59
But thatβs what grabs attention so that makes sense Maggie

47:11
exactly gotta highlight all our cool stuff

47:56
yes more white space on the horizontal menu!

48:20
but less white space beneath the search bar, having that "refine your search" dropdown just floating out by itself in the middle like that is a little weird.

49:24
also, when you click through to "basic search" on the dropdown you get a search box with a dropdown that lets you search by part of the field - could we add that to the main search box? It's only a teeny little dropdown!

49:33
I am taking notes from the chat for our list:)

49:45
*field within the record, not part of the field, sorry

51:03
So much more user friendly now though now that text-search is default

51:07
yes please a lot of folks will assume basic search is the default so letting library folks know so we can educate patrons would be good

51:23
Still playing around with the Map Search. Once I get my results from a search, the "Filter By" options don't seem to be working for me.

51:24
Text-search is definitely more patron friendly, it's just librarian-unfriendly

51:37
(if we don't know it's being used)

52:40
thanks for this demo! Will definitely be exploring and giving feedback.

53:09
Thanks LTS team for all the great work!!

53:13
Thank you all for the demo.

53:17
Thank you for the amazing work!

53:19
Thanks everyone!

53:20
Huge thanks to the amazing Digital Development Team! Thanks to Doug, Julio, Dustin, Cliff! Y'all are so awesome!

53:30
Thank you for all your great work!

53:31
Thank you for all your amazing work!
