Matthew for growing in a pot, jackfruit does not like being in a container too long or the taproot being disturbed much in a container.

This is the first year my tree produced. Three small jack fruit at first all perished. Then, two larger ones grew to about half size. Both of those did not make it either. One insects enjoyed and the other looks like a critter dined on. How do I keep my fruit safe?

What is latax
Steven Green
01:11:50
Latex is a complex emulsion in water of proteins, alkaloids, starches, sugars, oils, tannins, resins, and gums that coagulate on exposure to air. Many kinds of trees produce it, especially in the eurphorbia family.

Excellent info Dr. Green
Yvonne Florian
01:13:58
Vegetable oil also removes the sticky latex if you get it on yourself or knife.
Paulette Johnson
01:14:17
Some varieties have only a little latex.

01:14:38
at my house we boil the seeds, eat them with a little salt, they're similar to chestnuts
Steven Green
01:15:18
Jeff said coat your hands and utensils with vegetable oil. For many of us who are not that neat, we need to coat our entire arms up to the elbows.
Paulette Johnson
01:15:22
Remember that the first 1 or 2 years, you only get male flowers which resemble dead upside down rats.

RE: NS1 - We know that Dr. Robert J. Knight Jr. & Dr. Robert McNaughton are among the Rare Fruit Council Int’l. (RFCI) pioneers that helped introduce jackfruit, and other Artocarpus species.

01:29:23

Steven Green
01:30:56
My friends and neighbors who grow a lot of jackfruit are unable to sell it ripe but many have found reliable markets for green fruit (only).
Katie Chafin
01:32:12
I use banana blend 6-2-12 and it works well too so far..
Yvonne Florian
01:34:16
Banana blend fertilizer is much higher in potassium, which you want for fruit production.

01:35:05
Fertilize spring only? My municipality has regulated no fertilizing in the rainy season.
muriel strosberg
01:35:57
which is the book you read?
Yvonne Florian
01:36:26
Usually fertilizer "black out periods" are limiting Nitrogen and Phosphates, not potassium.
