This webinar addresses effects of transit and Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) operations on transportation network performance. Our team performed four interrelated case studies to (a) examine the influence of transit- and TNC operations on individual travelers’ mode choices and (b) assess the impact of such choices on transportation network performance. In these studies we used Birmingham, AL and/or Miami Beach, FL as test beds and the MATSim agent-based platform to simulate various scenarios. The webinar will highlight our findings, focusing on: (a) perceptions and predictors of Transportation Network Companies (TNC) use; (b) mode choice shifts in the presence of transit, TNC, and road pricing options; and (c) impacts of various levels of public transit and/or TNC presence on transportation network performance.
